Virke hosted the first Ethiopian Women Trade Delegation to Norway and Scandinavia

​On the occasion of the Partnership for Change (PfC) initiated Ethiopian women's trade mission to Norway, 17 Ethiopian businesswomen visited Oslo 4-8th of October 2015. The delegation was under the leadership of the First Lady of Ethiopia, Mrs. H.E. Roman Tesfaye Abneh and the Ambassador of Ethiopia to the Nordic countries, Ambassador Woinshet Tadesse.

Virke hosted the delegation on 5th of October, with a trade & investment seminar, with Mrs. Anne-Karin Nygård, CEO of PfC and Virke CEO, Mrs. Vibeke H. Madsen opening the seminar, the key note speech was held by Deputy Minister Mr. Morten Høglund, followed by H.E. First lady of Ethiopia Roman Tesfaye.

The trade seminar included Honorary Consul Mr. Erling Ølstad, CEO of Mester Grønn, Ms. Benedicte Eie, Sustainability Manager H&M, Norway and and Ms. Helene Hval, advisor, the Directorate of Norwegian Customs and Excise. H.E. Ambassador Woinshet Tadesse closed the seminar focusing o the great trade possibilities between the two countries.

The trade seminar gathered around 100 people from Ethiopian and Norwegian companies, NGOs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and design students. The Ethiopian women businesses included the coffee, textiles, fashion and homes accessories, gemstones jewellery, leather, and services sectors.

The trade mission made successful new partnerships during the visit.
