AACCSA (Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association) and Virke signed a MOU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia this week.
The overall goal of the partnership is to increase local and regional prosperity through sustainable business practices and improve access to markets for the members of the organizations. The program will have two main components; Business Development Training and Commercial Development.
Virke has been working with private sector development in developing countries in partnership with Nora since 2003, when the Norwegian aid policy changed: "From Aid to Trade". The aim is to increase import from least developed countries and emerging economies to Norway and the Nordics, and the potential is vast says Ms. Vibeke H. Madsen, CEO of Virke.
Through dialogue and collaboration with local partners, and with input from Norwegian importers, has Virke developed capacity training programmes for local producers in developing countries in order to increased knowledge of international trade and capacity to increase export to Norway and the Nordics. Virke has been working in Vietnam and Indonesia, and more recently with women entrepreneurs in East Africa.
"We are looking forward to continue the dialogue and our partnership says Cathrine G. Jahnsen from Ethiopia, there are great possibilities for Norwegian trade here."
