Virke participated in delegation to Tanzania

Virke participated in the business delegation to Tanzania and Kenya 16-19th of September 2015.

On the occasion of the official visit by the Trade and Industry Minister of Norway, Mrs. Monica Mæland, Virke, in cooperation with local partner organizations, KEPSA, KNCCI and KenInvest, along withthe Norwegian Embassy and Innovation Norway, held a seminar in Nairobi 18th of September 2015.

H.E. Minister Mrs. Monica Mæland, Trade and Industry Minister of Norway focused on the Norwegian government's work on FTA in general and their proactivity on a free trade agreement between the EFTA and the EAC countries, in her Key Note Speech, opening the Trade & Investment seminar, focusing on Green Growth Opportunities.

Mr. Thomas Angell, Executive Director Trade, emphasized the importance of trade; "There is no doubt that foreign trade pays off. Foreign trade is a fundamental prerequisite for economic growth and thereby increased welfare. It follows from this that the reduction and removal of trade barriers, both tariff and non-tariff, are extremely important for further development and prosperity."

"Kenyan products are well known and highly appreciated in Norway; your coffee, tea, fruit and vegetable - and roses in every home! Increasing trade between our two countries is the reason why Virke and our members are taking part in this business delegation - with focus on new business opportunities and partnerships" concluded Mr. Angell. 


The Ethiopian business delegation, including Virke members made successful new partnerships during the visit.
